New MacBook Pro Review

A new MacBook is here! Dubbed the “most powerful MacBook Pro ever” by Apple, this laptop boasts strong performance, greater storage, and a long-lasting battery, making it an appealing option for remote workers, students, and others in need of an extra boost.

Is it time to upgrade to a newer model? Check out CPR Cell Phone Repair’s new MacBook Pro review to determine if this device is right for you!

What New MacBook Pro Features Stand Out to Us

CPR and customers agree: these are the most notable specs and features of the new Apple MacBook Pro models.

Performance

Today’s MacBook Pro comes equipped with either an Apple M1 Pro or Apple M1 Max chip — both of which add a ton of power to the light and compact device. The new M1 Pro has up to a 10-core CPU and up to 32-core GPU and has 64GB of unified memory. The M1 Max has a 10-core CPU and 32-core GPU, and 64GB of unified memory.

For our not-so-tech-savvy friends, this means that each new Pro model can process more at once, supporting faster and stronger performance amongst tasks, apps, visuals, and more.

Camera and Audio

You want every remote meeting to be as seamless as possible, and the new MacBook Pro lends a helping hand, so you look and sound your best. Let’s start with the low-light performance, made possible by a wider aperture and a larger image sensor. Both the 14-inch MacBook Pro and 16-inch model come with double the resolution as older MacBook Pro models and have a 1080p webcam. They are also equipped with three studio-quality mics, so your voice comes through clearly in every interaction. (A six-speaker system and 3.5 mm headphone jack that can support high-impedance headphones mean that you also get high-end listening quality!).

Display

The Liquid Retina XDR display (or Mini-LED) is very similar to the large iPad Pro model. This means higher brightness levels, vibrant colors, and strong attention to highlights and shadows. Additionally, the new Macbook Pro has up to a 120Hz refresh rate thanks to ProMotion technology and up to 1000 nits. Together, they deliver a better visual experience.

Other Notable Mentions

  • Significantly Greater Storage: The new models have 8TB SSD — up from 2TB in the 13-inch MacBook Pro.
  • Prolonged Battery Life: The 16-inch MacBook Pro battery can last up to 21 hours, while the new 14-inch model can last up to 17. They are supported by an integrated 100-watt-hour and 70-watt-hour battery, respectively.
  • No Touch Bar: Apple has ditched its menu bar in favor of a Touch ID experience for unlocking your device, using Apple Pay and iTunes, auto-filling passwords, and more.
  • More Ports: Users can now enjoy three Thunderbolt 4/USB-C ports, as well as an HDMI port and SDXC card slot.

All-in-all, Apple’s laptops released last year have been favorable. If faster performance, greater storage, bandwidth, and battery life, and better camera features are what you’re looking for — you may want to consider this device.
