Design

All of the latest iPhones throw things back with a flat-edged design and slimmer bezels, similar to the newest iPad Pro. Both the standard and Pro models are protected with a new Ceramic Shield layer that gives extra protection from dings and drops. The two models vary in color options, with the 12 available in white, black, blue, red, and green. The Apple iPhone 12 Pro comes in pacific blue, silver, graphite, and gold.

Screen

The iPhone 12 and Pro both have a 6.1-inch screen and impressive Super Retina XDR OLED displays. The 12 is the first non-Pro iPhone equipped with OLED rather than an LCD. One key advantage of the iPhone 12 Pro is the brightness capacity, which gives Pro users a slight edge in outdoor locations. The standard iPhone max brightness is 625 nits, but the latest iPhone 12 Pro gets a boost to 800 nits.

Camera

The most significant advantage for iPhone 12 Pro users is the camera capabilities. Both models have a front camera for selfie pictures and Face ID. The iPhone 12 comes equipped with a dual-camera on its back, with a main sensor of 12MP. If, however, you want the ultra wide, telephoto camera, and 4x optical zoom available on last year’s iPhone 11 Pro, you’ll need to shell out a little extra for the iPhone 12 Pro.

The iPhone 12 Pro camera also features a LiDAR scanner, a remote sensing method that helps improve your subject’s focus. Not only does this feature improve portrait mode, but it also allows users to take low light portraits in Night Mode. If that’s not enough, Pro models also come with Apple ProRaw. This brand new photo format promises more editing flexibility than ever before.

Last but not least, the iPhone 12 Pro also has a slight advantage in video quality. Both models are capable of recording in Dolby Vision HDR. However, the iPhone 12 Pro, due to the LiDAR feature, can reach 60 fps Dolby Vision while the standard model can record in 30 fps Dolby Vision.

Storage

If memory storage is important to you, you may want to consider the Pro models. While the iPhone 12 ranges from 64 to 256GB of storage, the Apple iPhone 12 Pro starts at 128GB and goes all the way up to 512GB options.
