About Samsung Galaxy S7 Battery Life
Like almost every other phone on the market, the Galaxy S7’s battery will inevitably lose some of its capacity over time. In fact, Popular Mechanics claims that a premium lithium-polymer battery may lose about 20 percent of its capacity after 1000 charging cycles.
If you find yourself a constant captive of your charger, utilize the following tips to extend battery life on your Galaxy S7.
- Disable the “Always On Display” feature: Thanks to the Always On Display feature, the Galaxy S7 never needs to be “woken up” to view the time or notifications. While Samsung claims that Always On Display’s battery consumption is typically less than 1 percent each hour, the company added that consumption might vary depending on the type of content being shown on the display. To turn off “Always On Display”, go to “Settings”> “Display”> “Always On Display”. Then toggle the switch to off.
- Turn off Smart Stay: Smart Stay enables the front-facing camera on your Galaxy S7 to sense when you are looking at the phone. When activated, the screen remains on regardless of the selected timeout settings. To turn off Smart Stay, select “Settings”> “Display”> “Smart Stay”. Then toggle the switch to “Off”.
- Switch display settings to dark colors: The Galaxy S7 features a Super AMOLED display, which requires significant power to show the color white. Samsung’s AMOLED shows the color black by dimming the light behind said pixels which requires far less power. To save battery power, select darker wallpapers and themes.
