Charging Port Replacement & Repair

If your smartphone or tablet’s charging port is malfunctioning, continue reading for assistance troubleshooting the issue.

Charging Port Problems

Charging ports are easy to damage. Constant connecting and removal of the connector cord can be hard on the port and move, bend, or damage internal components. Sometimes a dropped phone can also cause charging issues. If your phone or mobile device has stopped charging correctly, there are a few things that you can do to troubleshoot and attempt to fix the problem.

Troubleshooting Charging Port Problems

The charging port can be dirty or dusty, blocking the connection. Try using a can of compressed air to remove debris from inside the port. If this does not help, it might need further cleaning. Turn off the device, remove the battery and use a small amount of rubbing alcohol or contact cleaner to clean inside the port very carefully. Use a piece of paper dipped in alcohol – do not spray or dump any liquid into the port itself.

You also might be using the wrong charger. Are you using the charger that came with the device? Some devices have specific power requirements that are not met by other chargers, even when they physically “fit” the charging port on your device.

Many times the tension clips on the connector at the end of the charging cord just become depressed too far. Slightly raising these tension clips with a sewing needle and a gentle touch could solve the problem.

Typing a review for the CPR repair located in LEESVILLE , LA. I want to give Nick, the gentleman and technician that fixed our Alienware laptop 10 stars!! Never again will I take my stuff to the Geek Squad in Best Buy..Just don’t do it. Simple windows update caused our laptop to crash and a windows logo loop at restart. Took it to the Geek Squad at Best Buy. Tech tells me first that it’s just a reinstall of the Windows OS so no biggie. Then he calls me back and says that the memory is bad and I need new memory but the motherboard is good…then the last call is that the motherboard is bad and that they have to send it up to their advanced repair experts. Told them no thank you..here’s the shady part, after I picked up my computer the guy said that they can take my laptop from me and recycle it..thought that was weird so I said NAH. DELL wanted to charge a total of around $500ish or more to look at it and fix it, no thank you! Glad I decided to go with CPR Repair!! Thank you Nick I will continue to do business with your company. Military friendly and they also work on Apple products if you were wondering! Pretty satisfied on the amount of money this company saved me.
